Youth Leadership Camps

At Camp Sunburst, adolescents are supported and encouraged by caring adults and as a result they benefit in extremely positive ways. The young adults become resourceful and contributing program members, bursting with energy, curiosity and spirit, often becoming spokespeople in their communities when they return home. Sunbursts approach relies on individual and community participation which ultimately prepares and empowers youth and teens to become effective community leaders.

Adolescents learn that they have the potential to change negative social patterns of behavior and break cycles of HIV infection. Program elements include boating, swimming, art, dance and sports. The Teen Leadership Program also provides specialized program elements that address issues around medication adherence, disclosure, sexual and reproductive health, stigma, stress reduction, and life skills.

Transitional Youth Clinic

Our Transitional Youth Clinics provide on‐going support to program participants encouraging them to have open dialogue with their peers, community and family. Family members, in particular, play an active part in our programs by attending support groups, therapeutic care services, and our prevention and education programs.

Additionally, the Transitional Youth Clinics help participants stay actively involved in their own care and ensure they have the peer support and self confidence needed to transition into the adult medical care system. The Transitional Youth Clinics often also provide guidance to participants in regards to other areas of their life such as work, community, and school.
